The Ethical Writers Coalition’s Fall Style Swap was recently held at Glasshouse Studios in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect space, and were honored to be sponsored by ethical fashion retailer ZADY. For an early bird price of $10 and at-the-door price of $20, guests were asked to bring in 5-10 pre-loved items to swap away.
While the EWC members sorted through everyone’s clothing by size, with additional areas for jewelry and accessories, guests mingled and sipped organic sparkling wine and mixers by Owl’s Brew in cute, compostable serveware compliments of Susty Party. The swapping area featured a clean, white room with a sophisticated and minimalistic feel, and the downstairs mingling area was cozy and inviting.
One woman’s Goodwill, is another woman’s treasure, and it was great to see most of these items go to new, loving homes. I managed to get my hands on a beautiful cream-colored blouse plus a brand new fair-trade, hand-woven clutch brought in by another EWC member, Rebecca of This I Wear. Every guest went home with new items that they were truly excited about, plus a tote donated by natural skincare company Ayla filled with coupon codes from other ethical fashion brands. All remaining pieces were donated.
If you’re interested in joining us for our next fashion swap, be sure to sign up for our mailing list. Thanks to all of the lovely ladies who joined us!
